Wall of Tears Trail (Guided)

Duration: 4-5 hours Departure time: 08h00 Biking or walking is available Private groups upon request

The Wall of Tears Trail can be explored in two ways: as a biking adventure or a guided walking and trekking tour, allowing travelers to choose the experience that best suits their pace and interests. The biking option follows an approximately 8-mile route along a sandy gravel road running parallel to the coastline. Along the way, the trail passes through coastal wetlands, lagoons, and paths leading to secluded beaches—natural sanctuaries for birdlife, marine iguanas, and stunning coastal scenery. Highlights include a visit to the oldest and largest black mangrove tree in the Galapagos, located at a mysterious estuary, and the historic Wall of Tears, where visitors learn about Isabela’s past as a penal colony. Tortoises are often spotted resting along the road in this transitional ecosystem. For those who prefer a slower pace, the walking and trekking option follows the same scenic route, allowing more time to observe wildlife, explore the wetlands, and absorb the history and landscapes that make this area one of Isabela’s most iconic trails.
